The Semiahmoo Rotary Club, in association with the White Rock Rotary Club and the New Generations Rotary Club of Surrey, is pleased to announce the second annual Service Above Self Surrey Youth Awards.

The SASSY Awards honour youth aged 16 to 21 who are living in Surrey or White Rock, and are making a difference in our community by demonstrating the Rotary ideal of Service Above Self.

Six Awards will be presented this year in the categories of:

Youth Leadership
Community Service
Performing and Visual Arts


Each Award recipient receives a $1000 bursary, as well as $500 to donate to a registered charity of their choice and a stylized SASSY Award trophy.

The 2nd Annual SASSY Awards Show will be held the evening of Friday Oct. 19 at the Bell Centre for Performing Arts in Surrey. It will be an inspiring evening honouring youth who have made a difference in our community as well as featuring a headline band and showcasing young local performers.

Youth Talent Auditions will be held at Central City Shopping Centre on July 7th, 2012 for several of the youth talent spots in the SASSY Awards Show on Oct 19, 2012.

This year’s keynote presentation features: muchmusic VJ Sarah Taylor.

Headline Performer: Warner Music recording artist Victoria Duffield.

FRESHH Hip Hop Dance Team to appear at both the Youth Talent Auditions on Jul. 7th and the SASSY AWARDS on Oct. 19th, 2012

Proceeds from the SASSY Awards go toward youth related projects by local Interact and Rotaract Clubs, furthering the theme of “youth helping youth”, and to Rotary community projects in Surrey and White Rock.
