Semiahmoo Rotary Supports Peace Arch Hospital
We have donated approximately $600,000 since 1990 making our club the largest service club supporter of the hospital and amongst the top 10 donors whether corporate, individuals, or service clubs. We have supported many equipment purchases including the CAT scan, Pediatric surgical microscopes, patient lifts, cardio equipment, and surgical equipment. We have provided the hospital with a passenger bus used to provide transport for residential patients and were major supporters of the dental facility at the hospital. Recently we began funding a $150,000 community room, used for rehabilitation of patients, on the new 5th floor at the hospital. This room has been viewed by many of of our members at recent visits to the 5th and 6th floors. In addition to the $600,000 directly from the club we have as individuals pledged or donated over $200,000 to the current capital campaign.
Additionally club members including Nancy Shewfelt, Cliff Annabel, and myself have cumulatively served on various hospital committees and boards for several decades. Club members also support the hospital through the annual Gala, the great Pumpkin Walk and other events. Our annual golf tournament, held every June, contributes 50% of the funds raised at this event.
We have a proud tradition and collectively we have and continue to make a difference.
Thanks for making Peace Arch a healthier community.
